Extract from A Hymn to the Sun, an Ancient Egyptian text.

Thy dawning is beautiful,
In the horizon of the sky,
Oh living Aton, beginning of life.

When thou risest in the Eastern horizon,
Thou fillest every land,
With thy beauty.

Thou art beautiful,
Great,
Glittering,
High above every land,
Thy rays and light,
They encompass the land,
Including all that thou has made.

Extract from The Great Hymn to Aten (the sun god), c.1351 – 1334 BCE

You are in my heart,
There is no other who may know you,
Only your son, Neferkheprure, Sole-one-of-Re [Akhenaten],
Who you have taught your ways and you’re might.
Those on earth come from your hand as you have made them.
When you have dawned they live.
When you set they die;
You yourself are lifetime, one lives only by you.
